We left the Grand Canyon and moved our party over into Utah. We didn't see all we wanted to of this amazing area (southern Utah) and plan on going back. One of our day trips was to a place called Bryce Canyon and the sites were stunning!

"Pedernal" means "anvil" in Spanish. And one can certainly recognize the shape of an anvil in the horizon.
We went through the Georgia O'Keeffe Museum/Gallery and decided to take a side/day trip to where she lived (about 50 miles north of Santa Fe). Marina wanted to expand her newfound skill with panoramic pics. These are just a couple of what we saw. You'll have to check back to see the rest later, for now -- we are in Gallup, NM and heading to the North Rim of the Grand Canyon and points West!

Santa Fe has a place called, "Museum Hill." We went up there and found that it was rather like an outdoor mall with various types of museums around it. We just shot these pics of the outdoor area and left ... looking for more adobe buildings (pics posted later/above).

Everyday, we tried to go out and find Rattle Snakes, Scorpions, Rabbits, Bobcats or Deer. Usually, we were more successful at just burning off some calories while seeing what was to be seen.

This was a rather abstract scenic viewpoint about a hundred yards from Sil. The weather, while unseasonably hot (70's during the day and 50's at night), was (of course) quite dry and yet very tolerable ... especially with some shade.

Pics of, and around, our "new home" about 17 miles outside Sante Fe, NM (Waiting for smail to catch up w/us ... AGAIN!). We really did quite a bit of exploring the area around Sante Fe and took quite a liking to this special part of the world. Marina really fell in love w/the adobe architecture -- as future pics will show.

A one-night stay at this very windy first stop in New Mexico. It was also our second U.S. Army Corp. of Engineers Campground. They all seem to be near dams, are quite inexpensive and well maintained ($10 for a lifetime discount pass (U.S. Citizens over 62 get half off ... like net cost of $6 per day!)).

We chose to by-pass New Orleans (because of hurricane Katrina) and stayed in this rather torn up place about 50 miles to the north. Enormous signs of terrible destruction were everywhere! *8-(

Just when we thought things couldn't be more delightful, we stopped in St. Andrew's State Park. This place really took us away! With sailboats in the harbor lots of green plants, birds and alligators (NO No-see-ums -- small gnat-like fly things that can painlessly create bites that later itch then swell up and fester like Horse Flys ... for weeks.)

One afternoon/evening, during one of our many walks on the beach, these two ultralites came floating along just a few feet above us. They gave us the "wave" w/their wings and then flew on down the beach and into a blazing sunset.

The state park at the end of St. Joseph's Pennisula instantly became Marina's favorite place. The sand was SO white and the water SO blue -- but the native insects (No-see-ums) -- viciously attacked Terry the first night we were there ... you wouldn't want to see the bloody pics (if we had shot any)!
